SendSX 32 bit V1.21 =================== FILE LIST --------- - Readme.txt - SendSX.exe REQUIREMENTS ------------ - Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000 Note: a version for Windows 3.11 is available on the homepage. - Midi device (e.g. synthesizer, soundcard, drum machine, virtual midi port) INSTALLATION ------------ 1. Create a directory for SendSX, e.g. C:\SendSX 2. Unzip/copy the 2 files to this folder 3. Double-clicking on the SendSX icon will start the program OVERVIEW -------- The purpose is to test and try sys-ex or any other MIDI message with your synths or other midi-devices. You can also use it as a means to change some settings of your synth or any MIDI device. Furthermore it may serve as a MIDI monitor or as a handler for MIDI bulk dumps. SendSX is PostcardWare - see below for more infos. QUICK START ----------- After starting, choose the midi-out port where you want to send the Sys-Ex. If you want also see incoming messages, select also the Midi-Out port. Now simply type in the Sys-Ex string that you want to be sent in the Midi-Out Box. The format is hexadecimal, with one blank as separator between bytes. Ex: Pinnacle Available Memory Config Request: F0 07 21 01 0A F7 CS1x Request for System Data: F0 43 20 4B 50 00 00 F7 Press the Send button or press F4 to send the Sys-Ex to your selected Midi-Out port. You can as well enter several lines or send 'normal' midi- messages like Note On, Bank change etc. With "File|Open" in the menu you load existing files (.syx files); with "File|Save Midi Out As..." you save the content of the Midi-Out box as raw sys-ex. "Clear In/Out" clears the contents of the associated box. SAVING A MIDI BULK DUMP TO DISK ------------------------------- 1. Open the Midi In port in SendSX to the port where the MIDI device is connected. 2. Clear the contents of the Midi In Box. 3. Uncheck the menu "Options|Midi Thru" 3. Invoke the function to send a bulk dump on the MIDI device. 4. The Midi In box should fill with the bulk dump data. 5. Use the menu "File|Save Input As..." to save the bulk dump to disk. SENDING A PREVIOUSLY SAVED MIDI BULK DUMP ----------------------------------------- 1. Make sure the Midi Out port is opened and your MIDI device is connected to it. 2. Use the menu "File|Open" function to load the bulk dump previously saved. The Midi Out box should fill with the bulk dump data. 3. Make sure to have set a send delay, in the menu "Options|Delay while sending". Typical values are 50-200ms. Also, you should have unchecked "Options|Word Wrap". 4. Click the "Send" button 5.
